A letter from Pedro
Life is movement. Everything around us reflects that movement. Planets move. Constellations move. The universe expands. Knowledge grows. Consciousness evolves. Whether we notice it or not, life is never standing still. The question, then, is not whether life is moving, but whether we are moving with it consciously or simply being carried by it without awareness.
How is your life going? How are you travelling through it? What are you seeing? What are you feeling? Are you present in your own journey, or have you become disconnected from it? People move through life in one of four broad ways.
The first is the Runner. The Runner is always in motion, but rarely in presence. The Runner may complete many things and still feel strangely absent from his own life.
The second is the Dreamer. The Dreamer lives mostly in the future. The future becomes a promise that quietly steals the present.
The third is the Crab. The Crab keeps looking back. He moves through the present with his eyes fixed on what has already happened.
And then there is the Celebrator. The Celebrator understands that life is not only a destination, a project, or a memory. It is a living experience made of moments, sensations, relationships, beauty, difficulty, and meaning.
There were times when I ran, times when I dreamed, times when I looked back too much, and only slowly did I begin to understand the value of celebrating the life that was already in front of me.
That is one of the deepest invitations life gives us: not only to move forward, but to wake up inside the movement. Not only to ask where we are going, but to notice how we are living while we go.
And you? How are you moving?
